  Good gaol experience, but mostly outside the room. Cell 27 is nicely done and very cozy for a family of 4 but doesn't feel like you're in a cell. The ladles could use a refresh. A good balance overall. Great idea and good execution. Very friendly intro to the jail and the history by the person at the reception. James was very friendly and gave us a bit more of his personal journey. The kids loved the place, especially wandering around and exploring the jail.

  had a great time, the engelbretch cave had been shut down prior to us arriving and without hesitation, Erin pin pointed locations for us to visit and see, she was also great help overall which made the stay better, I WOULD HIGHLY recommend to stay here, not to sure how it would be on peak times but id assume it would have only been better, sorry to waking up Mel at 2am aswell but i will stay the next time im in Mt Gambier and we will be quieter!.

  This little patch of history makes for a very interesting stay. The rooms are in cells that used to be a part of this prison, and there are little signs that tell the history of the place. There are no showers in the room, because of space, but there are shower rooms in the motel. All in all, I strongly recommend staying in this gaol if you want to learn a bit about old 1800s jails.

  The stay is very different from normal setups. They have common bathrooms and toilets to share for few rooms. The entire gaol narrates the history of that prison! The kitchen and living areas are very well presented.
